Scientific Name: Pangasianodon hypophthalmus
origin: native to Southeast Asian rivers.
Appearance: not a true shark, but rather a species of migratory freshwater catfish a sleek, finned appearance and shimmering grey glow on bodies
Lifespan: In captivity, typically live 10 to 15 years
Tank Size: Because they outgrow standard home aquariums, they are better suited for large indoor/outdoor ponds or public aquariums. Adults need 300 to 500 gallons of space minimum
Temperature: They require warm, well-filtered water between 72°F and 79°F with a pH of 6.5 to 7.5.
Temperament / Behavior: highly nervous, easily startled by sudden movements, and can severely injure themselves by darting and bashing into tank glass.
Tank Lids: active swimmers that are known to jump, meaning a secure, heavy-duty lid is mandatory
Tank Mates: While they can coexist with similarly sized or larger, peaceful fish, they will eat smaller fish as they grow.
