Bloody Mary / Fire Red Cherry Shrimp Neocaridina
A hardy, peaceful freshwater dwarf shrimp native to Taiwan. Growing to 1–1.5 inches, they are incredibly popular in planted and community tanks due to their vibrant color and algae-eating habits. They are fantastic scavengers, feeding on biofilm and detritus.
Tank size: Minimum 5 gallons, though 10 gallons is recommended for beginners
Water parameters: TDS 150–300 ppm, GH 4–14, pH 6.5–8.0
Temperature: Stable, ideally 68–78°F (20–25°C). A heater may be needed if ambient temperature fluctuates
Substrate and decor: Dark substrate enhances coloration; include live plants, driftwood, leaf litter, and hiding spots to reduce stress
Filtration: A fully cycled, gentle filter is essential to maintain water quality
